During half-term, Spike was lucky enough
to visit Calgary in Canada with Ms Steed. Calgary is the home of the Calgary
Stampede, the world famous Rodeo.
A tiring
journey - time for a nap!
What
a welcome - being savaged by a dog!
I was best
man at a wedding!
Hitching a
ride on a well-behaved dog!
Spike
doing brunch! Brunch is eating breakfast and lunch at the same time, and
Spike ate lots!
Sitting on
the back of a pick-up truck, just like a real Canadian!
Spike
stayed with a friend who works for a Canadian airline company called ‘Westjet’
Spike was able to have a look around where the planes are kept and where
the staff do their training to work on the planes. Spike
went into a pretend plane and acted like a noisy passenger – Tammy had
to calm him down and made him some dinner! Spike then tried to fly a
plane! Thankfully it wasn’t real! But he made all the noises of a plane
really well!
A Canadian
Fire Truck!
A Canadian
School Bus!
Visit
to the zoo to see lots of different animals
Spike
went to visit Drumheller in Alberta. Explorers from all over the world go
there to dig for dinosaur bones! There are thousands of fossils in
Drumheller! We went to a museum to look at all the fossils and learnt
about how they dig for them.
Near
Drumheller there are ‘Hoo Doos.
They are sandstone rocks that have worn away
leaving these funny mushroom looking towers.
We went on
a suspension bridge that leads to an old mine. It was very wobbly and we
all thought that we were going to fall off into the water below
This is
how Canadians move house - what a funny lot they are!
Spike
went to see a ‘gopher museum’ that has gophers dressed up in different
costumes! Spike saw a mountie gopher. Gophers are about the size of a
squirrel and you can see them anywhere in fields, because there are lots
of them.
These
horses were called Lass and Rico - they appear in the Calgary Stampede
Spike
went into the mountains. We went to Banff, which is a National Park. There
are lots of wild animals living there, but we only saw a chipmunk! We went
up to the top of the mountain on a gondola which is shaped like an egg and
hangs onto a wire. It takes about 10 minutes to go up to the top, spike
was scared of how high we went.
